Join us for a special Tea Party Fundraiser
Invite your friends and family, and join us for our first ever Troop 729 Tea Party fundraiser! We are joining forces with Martha from “Tea to Thee,” an experienced tea party enthusiast, to put on a charming event to raise money so all our scouts can attend Camp Cherokee in July.
Trout-o-Ree at Camp Powhatan
Learn one of Scouting’s essential skills and participate in the Spring Trout fishing tournament at Camp Powhatan. Scouts will get 2 nights of tent camping, and may also have the chance to earn the Fishing merit badge.
Seneca Rocks Campout
Scouts who are up for a challenge should join us for an adventure at Seneca Rocks. We will spend Saturday in a beginner outdoor climbing course led by Seneca Rocks Climbing.
James River Batteau Festival Canoe Trip
We will be participating in the James River Batteau Festival by canoe. This will be a multi-night paddle and camp trek with an option to stop at the end of the 5th day after earning the 50 miler patch, or continue all the way to Richmond!
Summer Camp at Cherokee Scout Reservation
Join us for summer camp this year in Yanceyville, NC! Camp Cherokee has an excellent program with a wide variety of fun outdoor activities, merit badges, and more. Let’s go!
Grayson Highlands State Park Campout
Near Mount Rogers and Whitetop Mountain, Virginia's two highest mountains, Grayson Highlands offers scenic views of alpine-like peaks more than 5,000 feet in elevation.
Pedlar Reservoir Campout
The Pedlar Reservoir, located in Amherst County in the George Washington and Jefferson National Forest, is the primary drinking water source for the City of Lynchburg, VA. It offers fishing for species like trout and bass, with daily, in-person permits required from the City’s Billing and Collections Department.
Shep’s Pond Backpacking Trip
Join us for a 2-nighter backpacking trip to Shep’s Pond. Scouts will practice backpacking skills including planning and preparing their own meals while on the trail.
Broken Arrow Campout
We are continuing our yearly tradition of camping and service at Broken Arrow, a private land preservation area. Families of scouts are welcome to join in on the fun for Saturday afternoon and the evening bonfire, and camping overnight Saturday night.
Wreaths Across America Service Day
We will be honoring those who’ve fallen in service to our country at the Lynchburg City Cemetery.
Day Hike at Peaks of Otter
Join us for a fun day hike and a nice view from Sharp Top! Make sure to bring sturdy shoes, and wear layers.
Court of Honor
The Court of Honor is one of our most important traditions — a time to celebrate the hard work and achievements of our Scouts as they earn ranks, merit badges, and special awards.
Leadership Campout
This will be a campout for all scouts who are First Class and above to hone their leadership skills and learn how to serve as part of the Patrol Leader’s Council.
Winter Camp at Powhatan
It’s like summer camp. But for just one weekend. And it’s in the winter! Earn merit badges and enjoy an exciting winter camping experience for scouts, including adult programs.
